Social Media For Dummies - Social Media Marketing Basics

By Howard Z. Douglass

There are many benefits to employing social media marketing strategies. Social media allows you to instantly communicate with a broad customer base, and interact with them to generate interest in your products, services, and overall business. This article provides valuable guidance on utilizing social media marketing strategies successfully. Use these tips to make your business more successful.

If your online presence involves any kind of a blog, make sure you update your Facebook page immediately after the blog is updated. This can draw Facebook users to your blog or website, and leaves no lag time between your blog post and garnering attention to it. As soon as you post a blog entry it starts aging, so getting the word out on Facebook immediately takes advantage of the fresh and relevant content.

For large companies, social media marketing can be a labor intensive, complicated, and non-standardized task where efficiency can be elusive. Many ad agencies and social media agencies are still trying to understand how to effectively market to the masses and are making it up as they go. So be careful where you spend your money and make sure you are getting measurable results from your marketing campaign.

Use social media to market your business! Offer incentives to people who share your page with others. Doing so can lead to hundreds or even thousands of people being sent invitations to your page. This can be done through coupons, free samples or whatever else you may think of. It will make your customer happy to spread the word about your business for you!

Be sure to visit your social media page often and respond to comments as they come in. One of the benefits of visiting this media, is the fact that it is instant and up to date. It serves as a real-time research tool for many people who may have questions they want answered quickly. So your quick responses will help you build a relationship with them.

If you are going to use a microblogging service, try getting as many followers as possible. Interacting with people and responding to comments on a microblogging service is much harder when compared to using social networking websites, mostly due to the number of updates that microblogging users get in their feeds. Post updates regularly and always look for new followers.

Do not post irrelevant and trivial posts on your social media profiles. Always keep your posts professional and relevant. No one cares that you got a new cell phone, or that you are standing in line at the movies. These trivial posts should be reserved for your own personal profile, not your business profile.

Make consistent appearances on your social media site. Make sure that you write regularly, this will cause people to want to visit your page often so they can keep up to date with your posts. Make sure what you write about is relevant and factual. No ones wants to read random information, it should pertain to your business.

Add relevant tags to your Youtube videos. They will be more likely to come up in searches linked to your products. You could use keyword tools to find out which keywords are popular among your target audience. Remember that your audience will be more likely to share something if they find it relevant to what they were looking for.

As the number of followers on your site increases, you should make a point to have it highlighted on your blog. You want your readers to see how many followers you have on Twitter or Facebook. If they are not a follower yet, this may get them to want to be like your other readers and follow you too.

To make sure people keep coming back to your page, update it regularly! If you have a consistent update schedule, people will keep coming back to see what you'll post next. If you only update sporadically, people will lose interest, and they won't see your content when you do share it.

There are a lot of important reasons why your business should use social media marketing. There are also various social media marketing strategies available. Start incorporating the advice in this article today to find out which strategies are most effective for you. If your business already has a social media marketing campaign, use this advice to make it better!

How To Come Up With Good Domain Name

By Reed Slidell

What's in a name? The answer is easy: EVERYTHING! If you're starting a business or establishing a new website, you definitely must come up with a good domain name. Naturally, this should be the same with your business name. It must facilitate better and faster recall for link building. In addition, it must easily tell people what your venture is about. In this article, we will talk about five important tips on how to choose a domain name that delivers great results.

The first pointer you need to remember is this: Go for a shorter domain name. Long names may mean something to you but they barely do to others. It is more practical to keep the name of your business short so people will easily remember and type it on the search engine or the browser. Normally, one or two words would do. If you want an addition, make sure you limit it to a total of four. Anything longer would already be a disaster.

Tip number two: Go for a .COM. Whether you believe it or not, there are quite a number of people who equate the Internet with.COM. While this may sound ridiculous, it is true when it comes to internet marketing. Hence, you 'd better be practical and go for the popular extension. Otherwise, these people who do the equating will not likely find you. Also, there are folks who automatically press CTRL+ENTER after typing on the domain field. If you go for .NET or .ORG, this shortcut wouldn't lead to you.

The third pointer is this: Do not misspell any word on your domain name. Some individuals are tempted to use misspelled words because they are either too common or too cute. They make "tips" and "tricks" as "tipz" and "trix." Whether you admit it or not, the alterations look silly. While they may sound a bit alike, they certainly don't look like it. Now, you wouldn't want to make your prospective clients squint at the mere sight of your business name, would you? Good domain names ALWAYS look good.

Fourth, do not use hyphens, numbers, and special characters. Some may think that hyphens would facilitate better reading while numbers and special characters can simply satisfy a fetish. However, neither can make you a good domain name. Try imagining that you have to type all these characters, don't you think they're a bit of a nuance? Don't you agree that plain words or letters are a lot easier to remember, spell, and type? Your prospective clients are likely thinking the same, hence, you'd better go for what works better for you.

Tip number five: Make the name speak for itself. Generally, it's a fantastic thing to have a general word in your domain name which will readily tell people what you do or what the enterprise is about. This way, they get the idea in no time, even without visiting your site yet. When the need for such product or service comes, they can easily recall where to go to.

These are five tips you must follow on how to come up with a good domain name. They have always been proven to work so there's no reason why you shouldn't give them a try soon.

Some Important Facts About Buy Premium Domain Names

By Ina Vandyke

If you are starting a new online business, blog or informational website, you are in it to attract as much traffic as possible. Of course, there are multiple ways of advertising your site both on and off the Internet, but one thing that is often overlooked in the process is the importance of buying a premium domain name. Having a good name that customers will remember and refer to will bring lots of traffic to your site. In fact, choosing a name that customers naturally put in an address without even searching is even better.

For example, if the name of your car dealership were Fred's Fine Cars, it would be in your business's best interest to try to purchase the domain name, fredsfinecars.com. It's a good idea to keep your name as simple to spell and memorable as possible. The maximum number of characters in a domain is 63 and only Accredited Registrars can sell domain names. A quick Internet search will turn up thousands of services that say that they sell premium domain names, but how do you know which one is best for you? The answer depends in large part on what services you need and want for your business.

It is vital that you work with a dependable company as well. There is nothing worse than your domain registration running out without being notified or any other host of issues you might experience with a less-than-reputable-service. When you are searching for a Registrar, be aware that not all companies that offer domain registration are, in fact, Registrars. Some companies use a third party who is accredited to register domain names for them as a part of a web-hosting package. While this may be fine with you, consider that you may have a technical problem and have more difficulty figuring out whom to work with in this regard. When you register your domain name, it will be for a specific time period, most commonly 6 months to one year.

At the end of this time you must re-register, or your name can be released and transferred to another owner. Carefully read the Terms of Agreement before you sign any contract for service. You will also need to determine which companies offer the services that you are looking for. Some people simply need a bare bones domain name registration, while others may need web and email hosting and much more. You can choose whether or not to have your domain name registration and web hosting handled by the same carrier.

This allows you some bargaining room as you can determine what items you really need to pay for, and which you can do without. Most ISPs (Internet Service Providers) already include email in their fees, so unless you need substantially more capacity you may not want to pay for email hosting from a Registrar. Another service to consider is forwarding. Forwarding sends traffic from another site to yours if you have purchased both names. For example, if you own the site fredsfinecars.com, you may want to purchase fredsfinecars.net and have the traffic forwarded to your page.

Tips For Finding the Right Domain Name

When building a website or a blog, having the right domain name will can really make a big difference in how successful your site is. A domain name generally will not make or break a website, but a good one can give you an extra boost. For example, I have built a few websites overtime that had great domain names, and as a result earned good revenue despite promoting it very little.

The Public Domain Secret

Find A Keyword Phrase

Google and other search engines do place emphasis on the domain name. If your domain name includes a keyword phrase, Google will rank your site higher for that phrase naturally because of it. For example, I did a site with this keyword phrase in the domain: indoorcyclingbike.com. While I have promoted it more in the last few months, this site was ranked on page one of Google almost from the very beginning.

I only submitted one article for marketing purposes, and because this phrase gets a really good amount of searches each month, I will naturally get traffic from this keyword each month from the search engines. The phrase 'indoor cycling bike' gets approximately 33,000 searches per month from Google alone. Now this number is not exact in terms of the real searches, but the idea is that there are a lot of searches for it which means that I am getting a nice piece of that pie by being on the first page.

Choosing a Domain Name to Remember

Product or Service Phrase

Rarely will you ever find a great keyword phrase available as a domain name, and I feel I lucked out on this one. What's also great about this phrase is that it's an actual product. So when someone searches for "indoor cycling bike" in the search engines and see my site with the domain indoorcyclingbike.com, they are more likely to go to that site since it is completely relevant to what they are searching for.

When you find a great domain name, chances are it won't have to be promoted as much over time. This is at least the experience I have had, as the best domains I have gotten have required very little promotion on my part in order to reach page one.

This won't always be the case, but having a great domain name is much better than not having one and will increase your chances of getting a higher volume of traffic and ultimately making money. Now you understand the value of a domain, but what criteria should you have for selecting one?
